People are so fvcking clueless when it comes to music that anything new they don't like with an electric guitar in it played by a guy with tats is emo.

Simple Plan is horrible; All-American Rejects are tolerable; neither are "emo".

Punk music is Emo, All-American douche bags make crappy new wave punk music - therefore they are Emo. And all the 13-14 yo girls that listen to this crap are too. It doesn't mean you have to be emo, but the music definetely is.

Although I agree, the term emo was originally coined because of the new wave punk scene, to describe (depending on who you talk to) the people who listen to it and dress the same way or to describe the music itself. It grew from that to encompass goth, and all other forms of emo type music and the majority of people who not only listen to it - but turn it into their lifestyle.

yep, when I was growing up, bands like Minor Threat were considered emo.

I liked Indie Rock before it became EMO. Now, some of the music kind of pisses me off.

But punk or urban rock isn't EMO. Sorry, OP, but figure out what type of music it is before you post something like this.

BTW I still like some Indie Rock, but lately the pickings of good Indie rock has been few and far between, so I have been listening to Jazz, Bluegrass, and the Blues lately.
