But heard it only saves energy on CRT and 24" and higher monitors. This is because it uses less energy to display a black background than a white one.

So if you have a large LCD it apparently saves energy? I'm not sure, but it's definitely easier on the eyes.

I did actually look at the back of my LCD and didn't see any lights... but I posted it to be funny. So, meh
