What’s the deal? It’s like wrestling but people are convinced it’s real. Hell even the rappers probably think it’s real. They’re soldiers amirite?

“I don’t see why y’all even started with me/I get impeached, my enemies die/I don’t ceasefire ‘til at least all are deceased/I’m eastside, never be caught slippin’/Now you see why I don’t sleep/Not even a wink, I don’t blink/I don’t doze off, I don’t even nod to the beats/I don’t even close my fuckin’ eyes when I sneeze” - "The Ringer"

Its natural in a herd to challenge the alpha and Eminem is a legend but past his prime so up and comers make him a target. It mostly benefits the nobodies because they get sales and notoriety out of it. That's my take anyway.

Of course they wait until the alpha is past his prime to bother challenging anything... bunch of fucking cowards who try to act tough behind a microphone

I hate the entirety of rap culture, it's just full of hypocritical twats.

But what’s the point of writing a song taking a jab at another rapper? In rock there’s not bands that have beef with other bands, or if they do they don’t write songs about it. What if Nirvana wrote a song calling out Pearl Jam and then Pearl Jam wrote a response song and then Cobain ordered a hit out on Vedder and little grunge kids got into fights over it etc. The concept seems absurd

Well... rock has had its fair share of fueds over the years too, but they're mostly just personal beefs between individuals away from the stage... not really made into full length albums made solely for calling people out =P

Rap (for the most part) is about being hard and more gangster, crime, etc, so the beef is all a part of that culture, because you need to look harder than everyone else. There are some rappers that are above this (Common, G Eazy, Macklemore, Logic etc) but they tend towards writing music more about life / hardships then "being a gangster".

Also, beef is not singular to rap. Plenty of pop artists have had beef in their songs and I'm sure there are some rock songs and other genres as well.

The 90s called, or something... I don't know. Maybe it started in the 80s. This isn't anything remotely new.

Lynyrd Skynyrd called out Neil Young in their song Sweet Home Alabama

That’s Trump?

I dunno, I only listened to the first few songs and they sounded like he tried too hard.

6ix9ine is a shit tier rapper.

Em called out a shit ton of rappers, journalists (who didn't like his last album), and fans (who also didn't like his last album)

This album was sorta a reminder of what Em is still capable of (and that his last album he was just trying to do right, or so he says iirc)

(but what do I know, I'm one of those critics he called out that don't know shit since I'm not an artist)

The latest album is great for working out to. Couldn't care less beyond that.
