EMI messing with monitor... ?

In the corner where my desk sits, it appears there is some major EMI or something. My monitor, at any refresh rate other than 60Hz is super jittery. If I move the monitor into a different room it works fine. I've tried different video cards. I have another monitor that I put in its place thinking it was the monitor going bad. It did the same thing.

Any ideas on how to fix this? If need be, I guess I can move my desk to the other room, but that would be a MAJOR PITA.

Do you have any of the following near the monitor:

-an AC fan or any other AC motor (most probable)
-non magnetically shielded speakers
-a magnet or heavy iron object (like the base from a lamp, etc.)
-an electric lock or relay/solenoid
-a TV
-something that contains an old, large linear power supply

also, even if the unshielded electronic device is far from the monitor, it can still cause interference by being plugged into the same power strip or outlet...

I will try plugging it into a different outlet/circuit.

Any other ideas? Is there anything I can purchase that will fix it?
