EMEXEC.exe (logitech mouses?)

I noticed a lot of people here and on other boards compain of losing control of their mouses, especially in counterstrike. symptoms:

1. You lose both keyboard and mouse control, and go off in a straight line in the game
2. Keyboard works, but mouse is lost/dissappear
3. Mouse starts to stutter, even when exiting to the desktop

I could have sworn that I tried killing the ever hated emexec.exe (or whatever its caleld) and so far I haven't crashed in CS after like 1 hour of play. Usually, i cant last more than 20 minutes, or something will go wrong.

I have a VIA mobo & a Logitech Optical IFeel mouse, the force feedback type, so I was just trying to pinpoint if this little exe is the cause.

WTF does emexec.exe even do? i didnt notice a loss of any feature.

I have a Logitech Mouseman Wheel Optical and I have none of the problems you described.

That program is the little traybar icon, the one that allowes you to set the buttons and other stuff.
I have it running and no problem.

emexec defines your custom stuff like 4th mouse button, non-native scrollwheel functions, and anything else defined in the mouseware properties...

I have had that straight line problem a couple of times in UT w/ my Logitech MouseMan+ Wheel USB...

one thing that has been pissing me off - the scroll wheel... i used to be able to use it fine to change weapons in UT but now I can't even map them in there... I want to say that there was some .reg patch but I don't remember and couldn't find it on their site...

bigd,

yes! im not alone!! at first I thought it was my dual setup and the 2 cpus fighting who gets to prcess what, but i tried assigning devices to sepcific cpus, so that didnt work.

as far as I know, UT works with my scroll, i used to have the problem that my scroll wouldnt work in any game, or in Black and white, it would freeze it up.

you dont have that huge webwheel thing enabled do you? i just have mine set to autoscroll.

yeah i've always had mine set to autoscroll and it worked fine and then once I upgraded my mouseware and i haven't been able to use it since... i am pretty sure I initially did something to get the wheel working but i don't remember if it was a reg patch or just killing emexec... i haven't tried the latter recently - will give it a shot...

Yah you didn't know that? :) Gotta have the em_exec going eheh.

I set my middle mouse button to Autoscroll, then in the options I have office wheel (works as middle mouse button) enabled. But in the same screen where you change the buttons, I have it disabled. This way, it works in windows to scroll, can be clicked to scroll, works to games, and works as a button in games.

I used to have control problems with my Logitech mice, but I solved it eventually by upgrading my drivers. Just grab the latest drivers and then install the registry patch to enable to mouse wheel in games and you should be good to go.

umm...people still use win98?? there are no hacks for win2k on logitechs site. i have had new drivers everytime they come out, so far killing emexec.exe stops my mouse problems.

im sure its a software conflict, but finding what is the problem...

if you are on win98, there are some registry hacks on logitechs site.

back on topic now, who also solved the games/straight line with killing emexec.exe?

answered my own question... here's what the reg patch does:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Logitech\MouseWare\CurrentVersion\Technical\MouseHookDLLEnable\

should be "0"

then reboot

Why not try the latest drivers from their ftp? The ftp seems to have drivers not released on their website. I used to have a problem with the scroll wheel not working in games. I'm running 929b100en (this one is posted on the site) and it works fine now.
