Hypothetically if there was a zombie attack similar to the original "Dawn of the Dead" or "Night of the Living Dead" I like to think I've created a good plan for getting out alive. I know I should spend my time better but my friends and I talk about this a lot. Am I just crazy or have any of you thought about this, and would you survive? I know for fact if the zombies could run like in the '04 "Dawn of the Dead" I would last five minutes.

I know those zombies had like superpowers. I definitely would need a fast durable car or lots of friends that well prepared and aware with many weapons.

I really think the best vehicle availabe during such an attack would be a helicopter. I can't think of a single land vehicle other than a tank which would work better. Luckily I have two people in my crew who know how to fly a helicopter succesfully in Flight Simulator and we live nearby to a public airfield with the needed supplies.

If we get hit by zombies, can I go find you :p.

Sure I live in Western WI, so hopefully the spread starts on one of the coasts giving me proper time to finalize plans.

You can't depend solely on that book, there are some good regular wilderness survival guides that will get you through the day to day stuff.

You know if they were traditional zombies like Resident Evil or Shaun of the Dead, I probably could deal with them because they moved so slow, I would be able to steal some weapons somwhere.

You've got to remember that everyone will be trying that at the first major sign so be prepared to defend yourself on the way to the gun store and fight for your life. Things will be mass chaos. During the first month the biggest threat won't be zombies it will be your next door neighbor. Also factor into effect that just about all guns have those locks on the triggers now rendering them practically useless. Unless you already have a few guns you may have to rethink your plan.

lol, strangely enough i have seriously considered this question...like what if i was at a restaurant and i saw them coming from outside...

in that case, i'd prolly try to scramble to the roof and see if i could somehow get to my car. from there, head to the hills

any plan you have will quickly go down the toilet as soon as someone who reads your plan becomes a zombie

I'd probably run away and join a pack of hippos. There is no meaner (but at the same time nicer) creature than the hippo.

My group keeps the plan securely between us. We always offer advice to people in hopes they use the information for good. I think you are assuming that zombies have a good memory but for the most part they are automatons whose only goal is to find food, not carry out old plans. Just in case of non-survivors in the group we each only know so much of the plan so we don't know ever part.
