Emergency subwoofer help!

techs

Lifer
I have a relatively inexpensive JBL home theater speaker set. 5 plus a subwoofer.
The subwoofer has bit the dust.
I need a new sub, for a small room. I need it fast.

My Yamaha receiver has an LFE out. The problem is the sub I am looking at, on sale, doesn't have a LFE in.
This is the Polk Subwoofer I am looking at:

here's the pic of the connectors:

Can I use this sub? How would I connect it to my Yamaha receiver???

Thanks in advance!

Not commenting on the quality of the subwoofer. For LFE -> L/R connection, all you need is to hook up the LFE to one of the L or R connections and suffer a -3dB in signal strength which you can make up by increasing the gain of the subwoofer amplifier, or you can go to Radio Shack and buy a 1xMale to 2x Male RCA cable, or if you already have an LFE cable, you can buy a 1x Female to 2x Male RCA cable adapter. The Radio Shack purchase you would do if you run out of gain on your subwoofer amplifier. If you have plenty of gain, then you can just use your LFE cable as noted above.

Ah, so basicall just use the recievers LFE into one of the two inputs on the subwoofer. I did notice that some subwoofers without an LFE actually label one of the two inputs as "MONO".

Ok, so I can use this sub to get some emergency base until I replace my whole system in a couple of years.
