emergency room cost?

how much would you estimate a visit to the emergency room for 7 stitches and a splint would cost? this doesnt include xrays as i got a seperate bill for that.

A pretty penny? I have no idea, the only times I ever went to the emergency room, I went with my mom, and I presume insurance covered a large majority of it.

i have normal insurance now but at the time i was unemployed and i only had the insurance that pays if it is something extreme so i don't know if they will cover any of it.

what do they define as extreme?

I'd guess about $400. But that's just a guess.

Nothing if we had socialized health care. :disgust:

That's a great myth you're clinging to there, thinking that because you might not have to pay the hospital on the spot, it costs nothing. I'm pretty sure that the money would be coming from your paycheck in the way of higher taxes.

i dont know exactly what extreme means. i think there is some dollar amount but i'd have to look that up.

$2000.

If you were to go to a private office, $300-400 maybe. But any time you go to the ER, it's going to cost you an arm and a leg.

I'm aware of the costs in taxes and I still feel that it's worth it.

My g/f went in December... it cost 1385 for ER, 295 for CT/brain Scan, and 627 for ER Visit/Blood ox. Not sure what the last one is, but that's how it shows up on her bill... my insurance covered 80% of it, and her's covered 20%... Expensive as fck tho, she hit the windshield in the accident so it was mandatory.
