Emergency Repair Disk = Boot Disk?

No...
and ERD you make from the Windows NT Backup...

Although the floppies can perform the repair option if I am not mistaken... I am not 100% sure about that one...

and ERD has unique files for the system in case it fails. a boot disk contains essential library and command line interepreter files to boot a system so it can be accessed. some boot disks have more tools for more features, like primitive virus scanners, partitioners, registry tools, etc. you can grab them from www.bootdisk.com
