It seems that Abit has wiped out in spectacular fashion and is marketing a horrible board with near exactly the same moniker as the most often recommended newb OC board of all time.

Worse, seems that Newegg fell for it. The details are nearly the same as listed on Newegg, but the hardware is substantially different especially in the OC dept!!!!

Mod: can you sticky and lock as an alert for a couple days? Edit nevermind

One thing for sure, ABIT my favorite board maker, is missing the perverbial boat on A64. The only have a Via chipsetted board both no locks or unreliable locks, No Nforce 250, no SiS 755/756...

i've owned three abit boards

nf7-s
ic7-max3
is-10

the first two i loved but the third one dissapointed me and abit still hasn't repsonded to my message in 5 days. The board clocks my 1.8ghz mobile at 1.2ghz and i have no way of changing it (the cpu oc's to 2.65 easy)

it's just a matter on finding out if the board you are buying is for overclockers or not
i might sell my is-10 for 50 or 60 bucks ( i payed 75 plus tax)

Yeah Soulkeeper I agree, it's just that they should not name it the NF7-S2 when they could have named it something a little more easily distiguishable, such as NF7-SOL or NF7-POS. I saw NF7-Sv2 referred to as NF7-S2 when it first came out, it is too easy to confuse them.
Coming on the heels of such a popular board makes it seem pretty disingenuous.

If they won't make this sticky we should just request bumps.

TTT

BTW, shouldn't this be in the motherboard forum?

yes, at least if you want to do any kind of overclocking. See the post referenced at the top of this thread (non multiplier, no CAS2....)
