EMERGENCY! Mac OS X

Hi I'm new on here and I have a severe emergencey.
I uploaded Mac OS X software on top of the one that was already uploaded.
While uploading I said to archive the old one. It seems like I have lost everything that I had on my computer. Is there any way for me to recover the files from before???🙁

Can ANYBODY help me??

The first place I looked was in the Previous System folder. None of the files are in there..
I was really sure to click on archive and install.
The weird thing is, I found a video that I had saved in the applications folder a while back and never moved it to movies.
Some of the files were third party, but most were right from my camera or a cd.
I still can't find any others..

Open a terminal window and cd to /Users. Do a directory listing and check to see if you created a new user during this process. If you know a given filename for something, you can also run the command (without quotes): "sudo find / -name <file>". This accepts wild cards.

No 🙁
and the weird thing is, something is taking up all of my disk space. So it has to be SOMEWHERE on my computer. I just don't know where...
Should I just take it to an apple store?
Yeah I'll use Time Machine next time for sure.
thanks for the help guys!

If it's somewhere on your computer, the "find" command in the terminal will find it.

OKAY! I found all of my files!
So now I'm working on deleting the new version I uploaded without deleting the old one, or the things I had downloaded to the new version.
I just can't figure it out. Suggestions?
