EMERGENCY I NEED HELP! Edit: Parents helped out....

I accidently just ordered $700 worth of merchandise from Amazon.com while I was trying to get a shipping price for my mom... what is the number to call and cancel the order? The damn Digital camera already got approved in 2 minutes.... I only have $50 in saving and checking combined right now..... Help!

LOL!

Sorry, don't know the number. I would imagine it's not hard to find, though. Just look for a customer service number.

Click on Help, Click More under Returns, click Problems with an Order down on the lower right, and click "right here" at the end of the "Do you need to cancel an order..." sentance.

should be able to cancel it before they ship it.

EDIT: I was expecting one of those 'I poked myself in the eye' threads.

Don't fret it'll be cancelled as soon as it sees that you don't have enough funds to cover it. It won't be shipped.

Or it'll actually keep trying until you have the funds. But they would never actually send it to you without having a pre-debit approval.

No kidding, and get an NSF fee.

The goal here is to stop it before the request goes to his bank, which he can very easily do by logging into his account, & cancelling the order.

Not if it has switched to "Shipping Soon" on the site.

So here is the deal, I called my bank and they couldnt put a stop payment on it, because it had already been approved, then I called amazon (thanks rossman) and they said I had to contact Circuit City. Evidently CC cant do anything for the moment either. I am going to get charged the $530 for the camera and then they will refund that amount back to me in 3-5 business days. My account still will get overdrawn unless I get some money from my parents to cover me for the week. Rent is also due this week, and I have about another $100 in outstanding checks that need to come out of my account. Long story short, I'm still majorly screwed for the moment......

That sounds really weird. You only had $50.00 or so in your checking account and they still went ahead and approved it and over drafted your account? That is really weird, I would get a new bank. If I did that and I didn't have enough funds to cover it it would just say that it was declined and that I would be able to get it, order cancelled.

I find it hard to believe how much of a hassle this is, in my eyes (as an Amazon customer AND a bank employee) it should be an easy issue.

Amazon just needs to CANCEL your order and RELEASE THE AUTHORIZATION (or hold) on your bank's funds, so your account will never be debited for the transaction and everything is ok.

ALWAYS USE YOUR CREDIT CARD (NOT DEBIT/CHECK CARD) WHEN SHOPPING ONLINE!!! ALWAYS!!!

I had to tell 4 customers this today.

Approved? What is that?

1) You paid with a debit/check card which is BAD BAD BAD!
2) You applied for Circuity City credit?

how come no one asked how he "accidently" ordered $700 worth of stuff?
Because he stated the mishap in his first post. 😛

If you're not choking and begging somebody to call your local authorities, then you've got several hours until the start of business tomorrow to be a big boy, go to Amazon.com, find out what to do and realize it's not the end of the world and your credit history.

But seriously- this is NOT an emergency. Don't caps the title to immediately get everyone's attention like you're dying (unless you are), fool. :disgust:

<disposes of the "WOLF!" card, goes back and waits for the next>

Well the parents lent me some money to let sit in my account for the week until I get the credit back.... everything will be ok
