Currently I have a dead computer with an Asus A7V motherboard that will not post. Just before it quit working, I changed the FSB and DRAM FSB settings to 133mhz. The T-Bird in there should have handled the 133FSB @ 950mhz and so should the RAM. But when it rebooted it just sat there doing nothing. I've tried clearing the CMOS and taking out the battery but it just won't go back to default (safe) BIOS settings. Maybe its time to upgrade ?

The A7V proper is a first-gen KT133 board and it usually topped out at 110-115MHz FSB. It's only designed for CPUs with a 100MHz/DDR200 frontside bus. If you need a replacement board, some KM200-chipset boards have SDR slots for your PC133 memory, check Newegg and hit AMD Motherboards, then search by the memory-slot type (168-pin).

If you want to get the A7V going again, try setting the ...grrr, what did they call that jumper... the Jumper-Free jumper to JumperFree mode. I think it's typically call JEN-something. If you need more help I'll download the manual.

I fricking hate this motherboard, it's the biggest POS I've ever bought. You change one thing and its broken. I finally got it to boot into default BIOS settings by reseting it it ten times in a row.

There are also jumpers on that board I believe that you can set to make it run at 100MHz (or 66 MHz) FSB. I forget - I have an A7V as my 'testing' machine. It's not a good board for a current computer setup (quite slow by today's standards). However, for browsing the internet, it's good enough ;) .
