EMERGENCY! anyone have winnt?? refreshrate problem [SOLVED!]

i knw this is the wrong forums, but i need help NOW..and OT has FAST responses... 😛
stupid old old monitor...

this guy who couldn't handle the refresh rate of his monitor at work decided that this old monitor can withstand 85 refresh rate...damn him!! he comes to me to fix it for me....well, i dunno the tab-arrow order to change the refresh rate...I can't see anything because the monitor does not support such a refresh rate

can anyone tell me?....

so far, i can only go up to "rt click, 'R'"....

what next?


EDIT: k thx to amorphous and klin of them unintentionally reminding me that all i have to do is memorize the order in vga mode....it's solved..woosha!

rt click, R, 7 tabs, 4 right arrow, 4 tabs, up arrow lotsa times...enter

is there safe mode in NT? I had this same problem after my monitor suddenlty decided that it couldn't handle anything more than 1024*768 @ 70hz - safe mode fixed it for me.

Isn't the video settings in vga mode 640x480 @ 60hz? You should be able to set it to that, then reboot into normal mode. Or hook the computer up to a new monitor that can handle the 85 hz rate, and change it back to whatever the other monitor can handle.

hmm..i tried that, it wouldn't change it when going back to normal mode...wierd eh? this computer probably needs to be reformatted....

after looking at your post, I just had a realization that all i have to do is memorize how to change the refresh rate w/ the keyboard and do it in normal mode ahahha i'm so stupid thx amorph and klin for unintentionally reminding me!! lol
