Embedding pictures in an e-mail

MotionMan

Lifer
I have a friend who used Juno for e-mail but does not otherwise have internet access. She does not know how to download attachments and, even if she could get to one, does not know how to navigate a website. She is over 80 years old.

I want to send her an e-mail with a couple pictures embedded in the message. Again, she uses Juno for e-mail and I use Thunderbird (both Windows).

Any thoughts?

Well you already know how to insert a picture into the body of your Thunderbird email instead of attaching it (Insert Image).

Anyway, even as attachments she would not have todo anything special to download your pictures, they come through with the email. As attachments she'd have toclick on them to see them, that's all. As Insert Image she shouldn't even have to click on them.

So why don't you simply try it and ask her if she can see it in Juno?

Other thing would be to send your photos to an online print service and have them mail toher street address. Pretty fase, inexpensive, and probablya lotnicer forher, since she can keep them w/o needing an electronic box.

Nope. Where would I find that?

Thunderbird /Write message / after you click in thearea to write the body of your email, the "Insert" drop down menu will become active across the top of your screen.

Click that Insert drop down menu, then / Image, then click "Don't use alternate text", then browse to the image and click it once it to attach it.

If you have several images in one folder, you can click Control Key+ A to attach them all at once.

Easy as pie, works great!

I do not have an Insert menu.

Do you have to have HTML enabled (I only use plain text)?

Look again, across the top of your THunderbird window.

File Edit View INSERT Format Options Tools Help

Very top of the window.

Insert is greyed out until you click in the area where you write the body of your email; then it activates.

Do you have to have HTML enabled

No

Those menu options appear when I enable "Compose messages in HTML format".

I don't understand.

For incoming only, I see where you set View / Message Body As/ then select choice of html or text, but that's only how incoming email is seen by you.

For outgoing only, I see where you set Tools / Options /Composition / General /Send Options where you set transmit options as either html or text. But that doesn't affect how you compose your email either.

I don't see any place where you set the actual composition of your email message itself to html or text. Good luck MotionMan. I can't offer further help.
