Hey all -
This is a bit random, but hey, this is AnandTech, they know everything here.
I was speaking to a friend today about doing some very low level hardware design work, and we were discussing what we would need to build some sort of hardware control system.
I remember seeing in some magazine (PC Magazine, maybe?) there exists some system-on-a-board vendors -- ie, CPU, RAM, etc. all on one board...
I think I remember at least.
Can anyone point me to where I might find out about such things? 'cause being able to write and compile to a 80486 microprocessor rather than have to design and debug a custom ASIC or even FPGA would make my life a LOT easier.
Thanks!
