When I brought my Accord into the dealer they rented me (of all things) a 2000 Corolla. Anyway, it's a fairly OK econobox but they should put a warning sticker on the steering wheel horn. On the ride home, I had to press the horn to get some stupid good ol' boy F-150 to move his big ass truck out of my way. Unfortunately, Toyota thought the Corolla was a 50cc scooter or something because instead of a notiecable "honk", the horn produced the most anemic and sickly "eek" I have ever heard from under a car hood. "Eeek, eeek." Is this the SpongeBob Special Edition? Toyota Corolla SBSE.

HEHE. My buddy's Volvo sounds something like that. He's got a set of horns out of late 70's Cadillac that he's gonna put in :D

But look on the bright side, at least its a Corolla. My neighbors' Explorer was hit and their rental car is a Metro.

I think Toyota puts that horn in all its vehicles. We used to make fun of my friend's 4Runner's horn. It was the wussiest little horn ever.

Not really the same thing, but it's a funny story. My roommate was driving his girlfriends Toyota 4Runner with us in it. At a red light, he honked the horn at the car in front of us. The light was red. I looked him like wtf?? because the light was still red. He honked the horn again. I asked him what the hell he was doing. The people in front of us were giving us some evil looks. Then he told me he didn't do anything. The car was honking the horn by itself. Sure enough, it started honking again. And the damn light was still red. It stopped, and I think by our gestures and facial expressions the people in front of us understood that he wasn't doing it on purpose. :)

My grandmother has a Park Avenue and that thing has the loudest horn I've ever heard. The whole car shakes when you push it, it's incredible.

My friend had some type of air horn under his hood on his old lynx station wagon.

Did the same thing to my VW Rabbit, would get the best looks, although it was a bit 'overboard' for just a simple little "I'm here" beep, so I kept the original horn in there as well (it actually still used the steering-wheel button, the air horn used a big red one on the dash).

Pep Boys / Kragens / Autozone sells horns by this company Hella which are supposed to be very authoritative sounding. I was thinking of picking some up then having a gearhead friend install them for me.

Mithrandir,

I used to drive one back in high school. Yes, the horns are weak. I don't think a bicyclist would move over. reliable little cars though.

I've never used the horn in both of my cars before. I'm extremely patient when it comes to driving. Even when the car in front of me idles at a green light, I'd wait for it. Usually cars behind me would honk instead. What I want to see though, is if such product exists that when someone honks me from behind, I would press a button to display a pre-programmed phrase on my rear windshield "F*CK OFF!" Now that would be cool cuz I'll be scrolling "Hi Cutie" all the time.

I'd rather have a weak horn, than one that had the ever elusive "H" Spot for a horn. I swear I'd have better luck trying to hit a debilitating pressure point on a field mouse than I did trying to find the part of the steering wheel that honked the horn on my g/f's Monte Carlo.

I swear, in a steering wheel with roughly 40 sq/in of surface area, only a specific 1/8" by 1/8" square would actually trigger the horn.

I don't know how many near accidents I had because I beat on the steering wheel and never could stimulate the right place.

You know what has a surprisingly good horn for a small car? Old VW's/Porsche's. The original Beetle had a pretty good horn, so did the 914.

My Altima had the same wimpy-ass horn in it. People couldn't even hear it at highway speeds. I had to rip it out and put a couple aftermarket Pep-Boys specials in there.

All the freaking safety regs on cars these days and yet they come with nearly-inaudible horns. What up wit dat?

My mom's subaru justy had the GAYEST little horn ever. THe one on my sentra isn't bad, although I'd love to have one that makes a person shake when they hear it in another car, since I use the horn a couple times a week.

Do you want to? Apparently we can get an upgraded horn for under $20.
