My buddy (tech support nightmare) just bought a new PC and a new all-in-one printer. He installed it all himself. <---Yeah, I agree.

He's having major "printing problems." I downloaded the latest driver/utility set for his printer/OS and burned it to a CDRW. Suddenly, it occured to me "What if his CDR can't read CDRW's?"

Should I burn a CDR, JIC?

definately, cheap as CDR are it's not worth the risk. Lot of older drives would read CDR, but not RW, would assume current drives would read both, but since you've got the option just avoid chance. Take the RW along to find out though

alot of the P2 and earlier rigs I've worked on won't read the CDRW, I just started burning to CDR's when I need to work on older rigs.

Old CD drives wont read ANYTHING you burn yourself - no matter if you burn it on a CDR or a CDRW (the reason I still argue that we need to have some floppy drives around). But as long as your buddy got a new CD drive with his new computer, you shouldn't run into any troubles.

Thanks everyone. He has a new Dell, so I'm sure it's got a newer drive. I burned both a CDR and a CDRW J.I.C., though.

There are always exceptions to every rule. Example - I make CDRs with digitl photos, slide shows, etc., and my son can read just about all except those on certain bulk media I have. Knowing that, I always use different media for him. :)
