Embarassingly stupid question

How do I remove my 7800gt pci-e card from its slot on my asus a8n-e motherboard? I've tried and I can only get one side to lift up. There seems to be some little white clip but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it and I'm afraid I might break it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and sorry for such a stupid question.

Lift the clip up so it releases the card...?

try moving the clip carefully one way or another; it should give a little more in one direction. that direction is the way you should pull to unlock the part keeping your card in. after the clip is lifted lift the actual card out.

I have asus a8n-SLI. I just have to pull my white clip down, and it releases the card. Not sure if there the same though.

Usually you just have to push the clip down, and the front end of the video card will pop up.

I've actually cracked the stupid retention clip on two Asus A8N-SLI mobo's. Was troubleshooting what ultimately was a faulty X1900XT. I don't think it's going to matter a whole lot unless you move your computer around or if for some odd reason you got your motherboard sitting with the components facing downwards where gravity could potentially pull heavy cards out of their slots.

Use a flashlight. The more light on the subject, the better you will be able to see which way it works.

Maybe the clip should be pulled sideways - away from the connector??

That's usually the other type of clip I see.

In addition to the above suggestions, make sure you unscrewed the back end of the card (the end with all the external ports on it at the back of your case).
