i am going to be setting up a email server shortly, something on the level of argosoft or mdaemon. what type of security precautions do i need to look out for? the server will be win2k server (pretty familiar with win2k, sorry linux guys). i have done a lot of research on http/ftp server security but not email server security. could somebody point me in the correct direction?
this will be at home, hosting our own data, will be using a dynamic dns program and my own domain name. the server will offer http/ftp/email. between all in the family, i would expect 25-75 mail messages a day and some people that will send them to us might inadvertantly send a virus (not maliciously, accidentally, some of the extended family are not so computer savvy).
the server will run iis5, all the latest patches and urlscan, iislockdown, an ftp server with no anonymous use and then the email server. this will be a dedicated server.
thanks in advance for the assistance,
