emailing ex-professor

Hello

A friend of mine is trying to get in touch with an ex-professor of his, and was hoping to get a few recommendations of him. He got a response first time around(which was basically a hi hello email), however no response to a second email(i am doing well in studies and would appreciate yoru advice on what course to do).

what is the best way to contact the professor again to ask the professor for advice, recommendations.

resend the last email.
forward the last email to him stating that perhaps he did not receive the email
or any other alternative

Go see the professor in person. Was your friend in an undergraduate class? With how many people in it? And how long ago did he take the course? Chances are this professor has no freaking idea who your friend is, and will be HIGHLY unlikely to write a recommendation.

Thanks for the replies

the ex professor lives in a different country

does no one have a fvcking brain of their own anymore?
huh ??

no the professor remembers my friend quite well, the mistake my friend made was that he did not keep in touch with the professor for a year. i think that ihas what has pi$$ed the prof off

what is ATOT ?

i dont know if he could get hold of the prof's umber and call him up. in my opinion email is the best way forward

Pretty much he doesn't remember him...

the prof does remember him cause the prof's reply to the first email was

how have you been in the last one year !!

He's likely just busy. He probably gets dozens of such requests over a month and most of them are vague. Your friend should ask again and include the following:

1) A summary of classes took and semester with the grade received (for the classes he took with that prof)

2) A cv/resume

3) A statement of purpose for whatever he is applying to (job, grad school)

4) A clear idea of what the job/school is and who should be receiving the recommendation (and of course stamped envelopes if relevant)
