I have been getting a bunch of these lately. I'm even getting claims from others that I'm sending them some, but I couldn't have possibly done it (computer has been off the net for almost 2 days straight, and the dates are all yesterday). They are usually the stupid ones like:

"This is my first VB Script. You'll be my first tester. I'm really really proud of my design." I hate this crap. They are usually from .ca or .jp extentions. Why can't some people just not write annoying emails? Don't they have better things to do?

It's called a worm. Once you get it, everyone in your address book will get it.

Of course. I'm no fool.

That's why whenever someone tells me that I have a virus, I laugh at them. It's not me, as I wasn't even on the net at the times they were sent, and I have a fresh install w/all patches and cracks and stuff installed, as well as my firewalls.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I also don't have address books, nor do I know *ANY* of the people that have emailed me saying that I sent them some.

I'm having the EXACT same problem... emails just keep getting sent from account. They are spoofing the FROM field and putting my account name. Everyday I get many "Mail System Delivery Error" messages saying that an email I had supposedly sent could not be sent to the receiver. I have a virus scanner running, and have scanned my system 3 times, and its deleted all the viruses I had.

The virus that is causing this is the Klez32 virus, but I don't know how to make it stop sending emails.

Can anybody help?

Thanks =)

Sounds like somebody has the sircam virus, or some varient there of :)

Some viruses can spoof your name. I've even seen a virus or two pick email addresses out of the "to:" heading of emails that are in your inbox or any other folder. They don't use the address book anymore, they just pick an address out of any email that still stored on your machine.

Those are fun...not. Even better when they start grabbing random attachments and emailing them out along with it.

I don't really have to worry about that much anymore. Trend Scanmail for exchange has taken care of almost all of my virus problems.
