I received an email from my wife for the website nilisi.com.
I googled the name and it came up as a scam site.
I told my wife about the scam and she said that she never sent the email out. But, the email is in her Sent Folder.
I had her change her password for the email account.

Is this a virus/trojan/fluke?
She's running an AV scan but AVG runs every night so I'd be surprised if it was a virus.

It's a Yahoo account, btw.

It is very easy to send out fake emails. Access to your system isnt needed.

I knew you could forge headers but this one is in her Sent Folder. They also deleted her contact list (at 4:30 AM when we were asleep) but she was able to restore it.

Wait, this is Yahoo mail? No access from your system would be needed. Someone most likely broke her password. Change it immediately to a strong password.

And, Olds, AVG? Puhlease ;) Get NIS 2009 on that box :)

It was, but the 09 release is the smallest/fastest in the industry. You'll be very surprised at how much progress that team has made. There is a thread in here about it, check it out.
