EMail retrival

If you are using Outlook it is possible.
Open up the sent message Outlook, have a look in the Actions menu and near the button is an item: Recall the message
I have never tried this myself, but I am guessing it will only work if the recipient is on Outlook too.

Haircut: on my translated version of Outlook, that option means resend the e-mail ... and that's what it does. Since Outlook uses POP3 (a non-proprietary protocol), there's no such thing as a "work if the recipient is on Outlook too".

forcesho: Humm, on the other hand, if your using web-based services, there could be a tiny chance of that service having a "Undo" function, if messages are sent between users of the same service. There's an ISP here in Brazil that supports this. The only one I know of.

kuk, on my version of Outlook (2000) there is a recall message as well as a resend message option.
I guessed that it might only work if both users were on Outlook as the option to notify for reading the message will only work if this is the case, so I am assuming the recall works on the same principal.

edit
I have just been testing this out and all it seems to do is give the user a message saying user would like to recall message so I guess that is not what you are looking for.

I guess maybe on some properiarity systems this would be possible, but if you're just sending through your abarge SMTP server to whoever@foobar.com there's no way to stop it once its away(well, theoretically there is, but in reality its pretty much impossible).

In Outlook, there is the ability to recall messages (before they're read, so it does NOT always work) *if* the sender and the recipient are on the same Exchange email system. Otherwise, you're out of luck if using SMTP to send email...
