I just recieved a Netgear WGT624 and my parents computer that is plugged into one of the four ports is able to connect to the internet and use aim and other programs that uses the internet but when they try to use Windows Outlook Express it will not connect to the server. they are using windows 98. what is it that i need to do to make it so they can connect?

Alright I elimnated the router from the equation and he was able to get e-mail. I then added router back into the equation and again it will not connect. do i have to save a certain IP for his computer?

I would reset the router. There is a button on the back (may be recessed) that you need to hold in for 10 seconds or so until the lights on the front start flashing. You may want to check the documentation, or their website for the actual procedure as it may vary slightly from this.

If that doesn't fix it, you will have to get into the configuration and find out why it's blocking ports. 25 or 110, I can't remember which. It would be highly unusual for a home based router to block these ports by default.

Edit: Before doing that, check here first.
