Email problems - where might I look to fix it?

I've become aware that some emails from Yahoo are not getting through to my personal email address.

I have personal hosting through a web host, but instead of IMAP mailboxes I've just set up some email forwarders for my personal addresses to go to my gmail account. My friend said he emailed me, but I never received it.

I jumped on an old yahoo email address of mine and sent separate emails, one directly to my gmail account, and one to each forwarded email address which in turn should end up in my gmail account. I received the message that was sent directly to gmail, but never received any of them that were sent to my host forwards. To make things worse, I never got any sort of error message on Yahoo's end saying there was a problem sending the message, so I would have had no idea there ever was a problem.

Any ideas where to look to find out what might be wrong?? My host says they haven't heard of any problems, and without an error message there's not much they can do to troubleshoot. I've emailed Yahoo's support, but don't expect them to be much help. Further complicating things is that another friend from out West *did* email me recently from a yahoo account, to one of my forwarders, and it got through. The friend with problems and myself are both in Michigan, so I wonder if theres a problem with a specific yahoo router or something. I dunno....that sounds a little crazy. Is there any way to track the path a message takes to get somewhere? How do you troubleshoot something when it just disappears?

Any help or ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

Check with your forwarding account to see if your Yahoo Mail address is on the Black List or not
You may need to add it to your Safe or White List ... or whoever hosts your forwarding may need to do it

Thanks for the reply. I'll check with my host, but as far as I know there shouldn't be anything blocking everything from yahoo.com addresses. The host has some DirectAdmin spam blockers, and spamassassin. I don't think SA applies to email forwards, and there's nothing in the other spam blocking that would restrict stuff from Yahoo. Thanks for the help!

Ahhhhh, interesting. Apparently SA *does* filter forwarded mail....I explicitly added all yahoo addresses to my SA whitelist, and a sample mail got through. SA is set up to send spam to a spambox, but because these are forwards only, there is no spambox, and so I don't know what happens to it.

I'd rather not just have to blanket whitelist all yahoo addresses, but I also don't want to have to specify every yahoo address I might want to receive mail from. I'll have to look into why it's flagging them as spam in the first place....and have a talk with my host. Woohoo to progress!
