starting a thread to see if I am getting email notifications from replies

i stopped getting them for:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2413153

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2335636&page=23

and any other that I've been replying to, or starting new topics

I'm running the latest Firefox and a few add-ons like 'Disconnect' and a few others. I'm thinking Disconnect was the culprit so I've disabled it and the others to see if that changes anything. I get notifications from other forums like OC.net..

I normally get instant email notifications of posts to threads to which I'm subscribed. I haven't gotten any since Wednesday 3/25. What can I do to fix this???

I was on the phone with my ISP last night (sonic.net), for ~1/2 hour. The guy couldn't determine anything, eventually whitelisted forumadmin@anandtech.com and asked me to call back if still not getting notifications. I'm not.

While on the phone I recalled that I had a similar episode ~2 years ago and sonic.net reported that it was caused by an irregularity in the way the anandtech servers were configured. There was a field (don't recall the name of it) that wasn't as it was supposed to be and sonic's servers automatically rejected all the emails therefore. Anandtech admitted to the practice, I guess they fixed it. It was caused by some changes they'd made. I have a feeling this is similar if not essentially the same problem. I'm going to call my ISP again now...

Edit: ISP says a couple of years ago (?) the problem was that "the DNS and Reverse DNS were not matching."

Right now they aren't seeing evidence that any of the notifications are hitting their servers.

Hey there guys,

Have forwarded the issue along to the tech team and they are taking a look at it. It may be a temporary issue related to the recent migration and patching.

OK, good, my ISP wonders if you are getting bounce backs...

As I say, the guys at my ISP (sonic.net) can find no evidence that any messages to me are reaching their servers. Meantime I've got a workaround, which is to change my email address here to an account I have at GMAIL, which is configured to forward to my usual email account. That seems to work OK. I'll change back to my usual email when this gets fixed. I did that workaround around 2 years ago when I had a similar (but different!) problem, the one where the DNS and Reverse DNS differed.

A support specialist at my ISP (sonic.net) called me and said he did as I suggested and subscribed to Anandtech Forums, configured his account to get instant email notifications but he didn't even receive his confirmation email. His account was also with sonic.net. So, I think you can take the bank the idea that the sonic.net servers are not getting hit with any emails from Anandtech Forums for anyone on the sonic.net domain. They can find no traces at all. For me, this was as of sometime on (or very slightly after) 03/25/2015.
