Email List Management Software

I manage a large not-for-profit football league with about 1,800 unique sets of parents. Currently, we have no easy method of communicating with this collective other than through our coaches. I think it's time the league put in an email management program that will allow parents to unsubscribe if they like. Anyone have any good recommendations, particularly one that will work with gmail?
