Is there what to find out what a persons IP address is from the properties of an email?

A friend of mine is very distraught right now and sent me an email but will not tell me where she is and she will not answer her phone. I thought if maybe if there was a way to get the actual ip address from the sender I could at least know what city she was in or am I wrong thanks
