Looks like we got another one, just got this

"Hey!

I?m ElectroGuy478 and I read your post in a forum at anandtech and you seemed interested in computers and electronics. Since batteries are practically a necessity for all electronical devices, I use rechargeables. I looked at BestBuy and Compusa, but their Rechargeable batteries are sold in packs of 8 for $28.00, that's $3.50 each!!! So I turned to the internet and I found a great site offering great rechargeable batteries for $1.60 a piece. It's really cheap and worth every cent! I'm just trying to do you a favor - I buy from them myself. Save some money! Here?s the link: http://www.newtonelectronics.com/nimh.htm

Justin Casper"

His email is electroguy478@earthlink.net

If he is a member perhaps he needs a little vacation

We have identified him. His current forum name is x86, and he is now our most recent EX-member.

The spammer appears to be docsmarts, the kid that tossed water inside his PC while it was running. He is now known as x86 and online if you all would like to give him a piece of your mind.

Got the same thing. Time for someone to learn the true meaning of the AnandTech Effect! Here's an active e-mail link. All it takes is one pissed off e-mail from each of us. 🙂

In OT, ICS Vortex posted that he started a reseller rating on him and left a negative eval. One more thing we can all do just once and have an effect.

damn those spammers...got the same email here as well....stupid me using my real email in fs/ft forums...
there goes another account 🙁 isn't there a way to watch for this? like watch for people hitting the profile pages one after the other after the other(like more than 10/half hour or something like that)? I think that would put at least a partial stop to email theft 🙁

Okay, I did a little searching and came up with something: a current eBay listing by this same Newton Electronics 😉

So we've got a location of New York City, New York USA and an alternate email of ebay@newtonelectronics.com

Okay, WHOIS reveals:

So how did you in fact identify him? If you did so solely based on the earthlink email, dont you think that the address could have been picked up from anandtech forums by someone and spoofed. or did you actually check agains the ip address that I provided in my thread ?

---

We also had the mail headers, and both IP addresses belonged to x86.

I have been nailing spammers lately, doing lookups of IP's and complaining to the right people😉
It worked!! Spam is down on my account 80%! I believe there is a network of these ditch-dwellers, and the word gets out about who should not be spammed.

steell -- Thx for the reminder. Of course, forwarding the spam to Earthlink is the first thing to do. Earthlink is my ISP, and they take a very dim view of spammers on their system. Harness the power of the AnandTech Effect. 🙂

Roger,
It was just that the threads I have in the FS/FT forum have nothing close to what he was asking for, and it just seemed like a form letter ro me.
In any case I edited the post
Thanks for the heads up
Jax
