email from ebay member

Hi,

I just received this weird email from an ebay member.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear yonjun,

A funny thing just happened. I logged into my ebay account, and, at my ebay I saw that I won an item. An item I've never bid on. I contacted the seller, and imagine the surprise I had when the seller told me that someone used my account to win the auction. After the auction ended, the same person contacted the seller using your e-mail address (I know that because I've checked on ebay the e-mail address, and is the e-mail address of your ebay account). The seller also mentioned that the person who hacked into my account, wanted to pay for the item using my account's credit card. So, you understand how scared I am now. I've changed my password and everything. However, who knows... I really hope that it wasn't you, because I got hacked and perhaps you got hacked too. I will wait a day for an answer before I start to contact the proper authorities.

Please respond to the question on eBay by clicking the button below.

Thank you,

Is this some sorta scam that I don't know about?
or this person is just concerned as I am right now?

what should I do??

any feed back please.

thanks

If it's a scam, I say you contact the proper authorities. Send an email to eBay asking them to check the IPs of the most recent logins on both of your guys' accounts.

might be a scam...never heard of this one before.

But when he says "please respond by clicking on the button"...i bet it goes to some bunk website or something.

I must have missed something. He didn't ask anything of the OP. Where is the scam?

He asked him to hit a button.

Ah.
True. Some people don't look at what a link points to before clicking it.

I've checked his ID.

it exists but he's got only 1 feed back to the item seller that doesn't have any feed back.

I don't remember I clicked clicked the button. but I didn't reply his mail.
I'm scaning my computer right now.

I guess legit email from ebay member doens't have any button to click to reply. correct? (I've never received questions from other members.

But where does the button go to?

Oh, then I must've not clicked it. LOL.

I've searched his ID from ebay and sent him email from there asking that he actually sent me email.

Sometime early this week, I got another email someone effering me a laptop at $500 and he's got 3 of them. that sounds like scam too.

I've forwarded suspicious emails to ebay.
thanks for the feedback guys.
I guess I shouldn't take chances when in doubt of possible scam.
