Email from BOINC Admin

I received an email from BOINC Admin telling me to upgrade my BOINC client. The attachment was bogus, but my changing the extension to .txt, I got the following message:

Dear BOINC beta-testers:

On April 27 we released new versions of the BOINC software
for all supported platforms.
We've gone to a new "major version" (from 2 to 3),
requiring that all users upgrade to the new version.
Our server won't distribute work to version 2 clients.

There are bugs in some version 2 clients that
cause them to try to connect to the server every second.
This is overloading the server.
So please upgrade all your hosts to the version 3 software
as soon as possible.

i got it, but i dont see where the may 17th end to SETI I is mentioned. i saw it the other day on a post by mr. mccown saying indirectly that david anderson hinted toward may 17th but i havent heard anything more back on it. anyone care to elaborate?

Yep, I've got that email as well. Have not been running it since about February...! But will check this out if they've ironed out more bugs 😉

What seems to have been said was the BOINC would launch on May 17, and it is speculation that when it starts that SETI I will end. I think a long time ago it was said that when BOINC starts no more SETI WU will be given out.
