We're seeing an abnormally high volume of inbound email at work today, continuing tonight. This is to the point of backing up the email servers/relays. (Unusual for our large company)
Is anyone else seeing this sort of pattern?
TIA,
Edit-Update: Apparently (1) someone had forgotten certain anti-virus exclusions on the MTA, (2) the MTA vendor scanning/decomposition software was erroring at a signficant rate. Throw in the "Sober" virus quadrupling our virus-laden email volume, and that was enough to significantly impact our ability to process inbound email.
So, one vendor hotfix, one a/v tweak, and we're back to normal processing times, although mail volume is still higher than normal.
