Back in 2000, I used my Hotmail and it worked fine. It isn't a professional sounding / real name either. I don't think they cared. They were just HR sending out the email, not the actual person considering me.

I'm surprised I was able to find it through all the spam though. ;) How much would it have sucked if I missed it. Yikes.

Why?

As other people have said.. they don't care where it's from as long as they can reach you.

my sister in law was persistent in using her current email address for resumes (redbich). Luckily I'm the one who wrote her resume so I created a new account with a more professional look to it.

When I was getting out of the military and went looking for a job I got a Lycos account formatted as firstname, middle init, lastname (ex: johnjsmith@domain.com) and it worked pretty darn good for me.

My business e-mail address is my full first and last name. It's really the only way to go.

They dont care about what comes after the "@", unless its something extreme like @racist.com or @ilikesex.com. As for what comes before the @, use soemthing like First name.Last name or some varient of it. Do not use a nick name like geezer1234. These places dont care if you use a hotmail or yahoo.com account because they know not everyone has time to find other resources for email.
