eMachines upgrades

anyone own an emachine and add RAM to it? i'm thinking about buying an emachine tomorrow morning at the black friday sale, but it only has 256ram, but it's DDR, so i can just buy 1gig or corsair value ram for like $70.

i'm worried about compatibility. i know old dells, hps, and compaqs were very particular about what kind of RAM they got. anyone upgrade an emachine. how did it go? what brand RAM?

Yes, bought one (Sempron 3100) with 256. Added 512 of kingston value ram (compusa)and it works fine. That and deleting most of the preloaded crap really sped it up.
