I have a M5312 emachines notebook and was wondering how long your cooling fan stayed on. Does it stay on the whole time at full blast? The reason I ask is because my fan seems to be running at full blast the whole time....even when just sitting there. It also will cut off due to thermal protection .(I think)
 
I have the same notebook, and my fan stays on full-time only because I run a distributed computing client. Otherwise the fan comes and goes like you would expect it to.
