OK I hate to admit it but i own one of these, it was a gift thought to be junk.
How do I remove the splash screen, I know that the windoze screen can be fixed via regedit.
Its romoured that HP used the cognac board in a few of thier machines but I have not found the proof. If this is indeed the case would flashing the bios change the screen to HP?

I spotted that also, I was hoping that someone had stumble upon the HP link hinted at on the same website.
