When it loses sound, if I go to sounds from the control pannel and try to play a sound by pushing the play button, the button will become the stop symbol and will not go back to play and obviously no sound comes out.

It will just stop making sounds, if I reboot it, it starts working again. What would fix this for sure? I've tried checking the emachine site and I don't see an update for the sound driver, I went to windows update and they do not have an update for the sound driver. It's an emachine T6520. Has anyone ever fixed an issue like this? What would you do to fix it?

I would install a cheap pci sound card instead of trying to fix the unfixable (most likely).

Thats what I was thinking about, but I did find an update for the AC97, the driver that was on it before was about 3 years old. The new driver was made march 8th 2007. So hopefully if it was a driver issue and not a hardware one that should fix it.
