Was this song only recorded live? I remember it from my childhood so I went to check it out on P2P. I have downloaded dozens of copies, all of them are live. The length of the song will be different, but not by much, but it's all the same song. I don't remember it being a live song back in the '70s.

I have only heard this song in the live form so I believe the only recording ever used for distribution was from that original live recording.

You should download the Beastie Boys version of it. It's a live performance at MSG and Biz Markie is singing...and he sounds drunk. It's great.

Yeah, the album version has the crowd noise in it. But I always assumed it was fake applause, it sounds canned to me.
