Elton John fans, need help

Trying to find the name of a song. The first lyric is "operator" and he's singing about talking to an operator about getting a phone number to a lost love that left him for another guy, to tell her he's ok... and at the end tells the operator he can "Keep the dime" and "forget about this call".

Any help?

yeah figured it out... once I removed elton john from the search. It's by some guy named jim croce... odd, sounded exactly like him.

That's Jim Croce's song "Operator". He doesn't sound anything like Elton John though, maybe someone else's cover?

How soon we forget. Jim Croce is a legend and had talent that was up there with Elton John. If he hadn't died prematurely, he probably would be one of the top singer/songwriters today.
