I believe Elsa will no longer market their products in the US but only in Europe. Makes sense since they are German. Their contract with Visiontek is over so Gigabyte will now be handling their cards. If you've seen them... they're no longer green! :)

Called and emailed for weeks to get tech support for failing mems on a Gladiac GF2 GTS - never heard a peep back. Left me one sad-ass consumer with a dead card bought for $200 just over two years ago.

You bought a GF2 GTS more than 2 years ago? 200$ is not a bad deal considering it wasn't even out yet... :D

ELSA not to retreat Consumer Graphics Market ! - Hilbert Hagedoorn @ 4:03

A few days ago German online press at Golem Network News (GNN) announced that ELSA might be stopping to produce videocards except the professional series.

Moments ago I was contacted by ELSA with a statement on this matter which according to ELSA is absolutely not true. Here is that statement:
In our recent press release regarding business development in the third quarter of 2001, we announced the focus in the course of further concentration and rationalization, that the US business is to concentrate on the professional graphics sector with our ELSA GLoria and ELSA Synergy workstation lines. The interpretation of this message, that ELSA is withdrawing completely from the consumer graphics segment is false.

This predicate was neither transacted nor intended by us. In fact the opposite is the case. With three new products announced in this segment (GLADIAC 921DVI, GLADIAC 721TV-OUT and GLADIAC 516 TV-OUT) we are perfectly prepared for the competition.

The background of the further intensification of our reorganization measures already announced is due to the current market and general developments in the industry. We meet this trend with a double strategy: Concentration on our core markets in Europe, in which we are present with a respectable market share in double figures, as well as representation in Asia the strongest market with great future potential. Here are we already now profitable.

Therefore, the abandonment of the consumer graphics business is not under discussion, but rather the further development of our European market position is our stated target. We would be most grateful if you would immediately arrange the appropriate rectification of the website.

With kind regards,
ELSA AG

Yeah, Sugadaddy is right. I believe just over 2 years ago Nvidia was just releasing the original Geforce 256 cards. GTS cards weren't produced until spring 2000.
