Just received an email today apologizing for the mistake. They are selling at cost for $460+ bucks. dunno whether good deal or not..

---

auyong,

Thank you for your post. If this is the best price you can find for this card, it is a Hot Deal. It also sounds like a very fair offer by Dartek as an apology for their pricing error.

Remember that actual dealer cost will vary, depending on how many they buy at a time, so if another company is selling it for less, they may be buying more.

This thread will remain open as long as the discussion remains on topic. Please do not post just to bash them further.

Thank you,

I do not think Anandtech moderators are unreasonable. I'm just posting a hot deal in my opinion and I'm not moaning like the other guy in the link...so they won't lock it.

I was referring to a point that waldox touched on not your post.

Personally, I think that this is a good deal as it's a full $12 cheaper than any other place out there. If you are looking for this card this is the best price you'll find right now.

Not bashing Dartek, but I'd have to say that I doubt that their cost is in the $450s. My friend just got the same video card about 2 months ago. He got it from a friend who works for a wholesaler. Price: $180. I'm not saying that is supposed to be the price, but just thought that I'd mention that $180 was possible.

The "at cost" price is more than I can find elsewhere on the net..... It may be their actual "cost" (maybe after other expenses factored in, or just what they paid...who knows), but I'll buy elsewhere if I were in the market for this card.

I thought it was insane paying $300 for a Voodoo II, Geforce, and then Geforce 2.

Now, $500 for a videocard? Although it's a good price for the card, still it is just way past insane. You can buy a 21" monitor or LCD screen for the money.

Not for me.

Worse case senario looks like they recover from their (cough) mistake smelling like a rose! Plenty of free advertising to boot. NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A HOT DEAL!

If you think Dartek paid $487 dollars for the 64mb DDR Gladiac...well...you need to put down the crack pipe. I did some calling around after the fiasco that occured with them and I found a wholeseller in town that says their cost for the same card is $250.

I would not call it a good deal. Comp-U-Plus is selling the Guillemont Ultra for $405 OEM.

Well what do you expect, they're trying to make money off of people willing to buy the card. Can't blame them for running a business.

If this is their cost, then I think they are trying to do the right thing. If it's not their cost, then they would be guilty of common law fraud. Telling someone you are selling something at cost when you aren't is a big big no no.

BTW, I think one can find the Leadtek version of the Ultra with the gargantuan heatsink for under $400 on pricewatch (around $379 last time I checked). The Creative version is on pricewatch for $369 with free shipping. Those would be hotter deals, imho.

At least they made some gesture of good faith. And the price is pretty good for this exact product.I'm not sure that I'll order though. Their reseller rating is very low!!
