Hope Musk doesnt get any ideas of buying out parts of the mainstream media (CNN, CBS, etc). Imagine if we had another Murdoch on the scene.

The free speech champion is apparently now firing SpaceX employees for criticizing his Twitter shitposting.

I do think that not only should he not buy Twitter, he should probably get off it completely.
Everyone knew that was coming. No way he is putting up with the leeches getting uppity. Their employment is 100% a gift to them, not the other way around. (In his mind)

One thing has been obvious for a long time, Elon would suck to work for outside of the stock options.

I'm no fan of billionaires and Musk is an especially cunty billionaire.

That said, Tesla will ultimately be a battery company. Sticking a car on top of them is kinda beside the point when there are dozens of other manufacturers who have more infrastructure for putting cars on top of batteries.
I own TSLA because of their battery tech, not their cars. They're still years ahead of everyone else and gaining ground as far as I can tell.

Free speech doesn't mean "consequence free" free speech. Crap on your boss and he has the right to stop paying you.

While technically true, it's terrible optics for someone to have been screaming "it's all about free speech" for a while now and then go and do this. But, he's not exactly consistent in his words/actions anyway.

edit: And don't give me the "free speech doesn't apply because it's not the govt. restricting" bullshit. Same thing can be applied to Twitter (which is what he's been screaming about).

So instigate an insurrection and the platform on which you do it has the right to ban you from posting on it again?

What does "free speech absolutist" even _mean_ then, if it allows for such consequences? It's just a meaningless boast. Once you concede there can be drastic concquences, what's left of this 'absolutism' and how are you any different from those you are claiming to disagree with?

It all just illustrates the complete incoherence of Musk's claims.

It's more than that, it just illustrates the complete inconsistency of going on about "free speech" while simultaneously defending private property rights (which includes both the right of the boss to stop paying you and the right of privately-owned platforms to stop carrying your words).

It's not about free speech its about he has more money than you and can do whatever he wants to whomever he wants, behave any way he wants, and break any laws he wants and thinks he should be able to escape any responsibly whatsoever in perpetuity. If it amuses him to destroy you personality he's going to do that. Just because he's rich and has a moderately large cult like following.

All his little talks about "free speech" should be viewed though that lens.

I think we agree completely. His hypocrisy knows no bounds.

The hypocrisy of insistence on "free speech for all" and then firing those whose speech he doesnt like. Just LULZ.

Edit: irony is not the right word, hypocrisy is.

Besides, I thought the Court had declared that 'money equals speech'? So isn't stopping paying someone taking away their ability to speak? Or does it mean Musk is no longer speaking to them? Is an absence of money also a form of speech?

Claiming to be a "free speech absolutist" is nonsensical posture-striking. Seems to me that nobody who claims to hold such a position manages to be coherent or consistent about it.

I firmly agree! I'm not the one saying I'm a free speech absolutist though.

Just like he has a right to fire employees that criticize them Twitter has a right to ban people who act poorly. Musk thinks only one is a violation of free speech, which is amusing.

Going to be an interesting time when the Chinese government starts squeezing his nuts to yank posts/people they don't like off Twitter and he obediently does it to avoid them ruining Tesla.

Or in a format his disciples might more readily comprehend:

Should we start a petition for Elon to be on the maiden orbital flight of Starship next month? I really think he deserves that honor.
