If anyone is gonna bring about a Nazi Skynet to end the world it's going to be Elmo winning the AI race.

(as to what is distracting him from running Tesla etc...)

Gutting the supercharger team at the same time you've convinced so many major automakers to make their cars compatible is just bat shit stupid. Like pants on heads stupid
Hopefully someone picks up that team and gets a decent competing network out there.

Remember Kid's, Ketamine is not a harmless drug to be abused.

https://www.dea.gov/factsheets/ketamine

Ketamine produces hallucinations. It distorts perceptions of sight and sound and makes the user feel disconnected and not in control. Ketamine may cause unwanted side effects such as: agitation, depression, cognitive difficulties, unconsciousness, and amnesia. Involuntarily rapid eye movement, dilated pupils, salivation, tear secretions, and stiffening of the muscles, possible nausea. Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD) has been reported several weeks after ketamine use and may include experiencing prolonged visual disturbances.

Musk has taken a wrecking-ball through Tesla. It would be awesome if enough shareholders could get together and show elmo the door.

Sources familiar with the matter believe that some of the layoffs have nothing to do with hiring inefficiencies or restructuring, but rather with Musk throwing his weight around Tesla.

Two sources told Electrek that Tinucci was fighting back pressure from Musk to fire a bigger percentage of her team, and the CEO decided to let go of the entire team as an example.

Lol, I like this section

The only way I can get behind Musk on this is if Tesla’s financials are really in the dumpster. It doesn’t look that bad right now based on the financial statements, but it’s not impossible that Tesla has internal numbers, like orders coming in, that look awful.

Might it be that Elon burning his Tony Stark brand up in flames is beginning to solidify in the numbers?

Fucking dumbass.

Tesla just had their Q1 Financial on 4/23. You would think that if this big of change was planned that it would have been brought up during the call. This firing of the entire Supercharger team seems to me that Musk threw a tantrum because one of his direct reports told him what he was doing wasn't a good idea. I was watching a video earlier today talking about the change from someone who has contacts in the industry and on the utility side. One of his contacts in the utility industry who works directly with the Supercharger team had about 20MW of charging installs in the pipe with the Tesla Supercharging team and everyone of his contacts on the Tesla side is gone. As part of the installs he had millions of dollars of power equipment on order by the utility but he now has no idea if these installs are continuing or not because all of his Tesla contacts are gone. He also heard that several auto manufacturers boards are meeting and discussing if because this recent announcement they should pull back from the switchover from CCS to NACS. Stupid decision by elmo.

These moves don't make any strategic sense, but I think it's safe to say their auto business is in deep trouble. Q1 was miserable, and somehow they went from 30%+ annualized growth (for years to come) to possibly no unit sales growth this year. But keep in mind with the BEV price wars, no unit sales growth means gross revenue is actually shrinking.

Tesla is facing two dire trends right now. In the U.S., Musk has basically alienated many of his core customers or potential customers (liberal minded voters who care about carbon emissions) while in China, he's facing an onslaught of cheaper competition. Besides dismissing Elon and hoping U.S. customers return, how can Tesla rejuvenate sinking demand?

I'm not necessarily a long-term Tesla bear (wouldn't touch the hype stock itself), but their industry position as of today is looking very shaky. Think about it, no company that's growing 15% YoY would axe 10% of its workforce when the global economy is stable. Well, except for Sundar Pichai probably. :p

Fire the nose cone division! All the nose cone does is stand in the way of the rest of the rocket trying to get into space. :colbert:
Cause that would mean fire himself...

"Starship, the 165-foot-tall (50 meters) spacecraft that SpaceX is developing to take people and cargo to Mars and other distant destinations, was also originally supposed to have a relatively blunt head, Musk told Rogan. But the SpaceX chief, consciously channeling his inner Aladeen, told his engineers to make Starship more pointy."

Why not just add flame decals while they're at it?
