Reminds me of the quote, “The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread.”

In other news:

Kinda undermines his whole lawsuit over stolen IP if threads is just instagram minus pics, doesn't it?

There won't be a lawsuit. Musk is just flailing around and lashing out.

His behavior is literally no better than an anonymous teenage edge lord on 4chan.

Except he's not anonymous, and he's over 50 years old. So he's just revealing himself to be more pathetic every day.

The only question left on my mind is how many months till the place goes tits up and he walks leaving an epic mess behind for the lawyers.

I feel that probably won't happen anytime soon. After all, MySpace limped on for a long time after it was clear the party was over. My thought is that Twitter becomes some zombie shell of its former self that just sort of hangs around.

Over/under is 6 months. That's how long I give the new CEO before she nopes out.

I think the limiting factor is probably Musk's interest. When it wanes sufficiently he'll toss the keys to the lenders. Will Twitter disappear entirely? Probably not but it's likely going the way of Tumblr which might as well be gone for all its impact.

Tumblr is actually climbing again. Sure its a shadow of it's former self, but it won't die either.

I think the limiting factor is Bankruptcy and if/how long Musk is willing to pump in more of his own money to prevent that.

Bankruptcy would likely give control back to the creditors, and they would likely be inclined remove Musk as a controlling interest.

Remove Musk from the equation, and a competent leader could likely turn Twitter around, depending how much longer Musk is in charge and how much deeper into the ground he drives Twitter.

As I said his interest in the platform. That takes the form of cash in this case.

The lenders clearly don't have the stones to take over the company from him even though he has to be in breach of multiple provisions of the debt covenants.

Why does he have to be in breach? I would bet one of the few payments he is making is to his creditors.

Well, Threads happened juuuust in time for 2024, so there is that catalyst :). If Threads manages to take center stage for 2024, my prediction is that Twitter is out 6-12 months later.

The timing couldn't have been better for Zuck and worse for the human scum that is Elon. Literally the weekend Twitter self-mutilated with his decision to limit views to everyone was just before the Thread launch. I wonder if they moved it up because of that or if it was announced before?

Anyway, it's beautiful to watch. Fuck Zuck but fuck Musk more.

I think Bluesky has the potential to be a much better product, but we will see. I've been on the damn waiting list forever now for an invite.

Even if it is technically better, it will likely be too little, too late.

Social Media is a game of critical mass, there are VERY few opportunities to steal critical mass from the market leader.

Musk has been shooting off Twitters limbs and and Threads has arrived right about now:

To take advantage of one of those rare opportunities.

Fuck Jack Dorsey. Just because Twitter is even more toxic under Musk, don't forget that Twitter was toxic under Dorsey's leadership.

EDIT: Just to add, Bluesky (mentioned by MrSquished) is run by Jack Dorsey, hence my comment.

In a roundabout way, Elon HAS made Twitter Great Again ... Its just called Threads and it's not his.

I have to give props to Zuck here. For such a large corporation, super tanker, to act this agile when an opportunity presents it self is super super rare... Its usually bogged down in bureaucracy and internal politics.

I'm not a big fan of Jack Dorsey either, but I still think he's better than Zuckerberg. I mean Zuckerberg is pretty shitty , It's just reaching musk levels of shitty is something only most Republicans can do.

And I think the product has more potential to be better as well. I mean all this can change but that's what I see and feel right now.

Zuck beats Dorsey for the simple fact that Zuck is not injecting his personality into politics.
