Im full remote and I can see what you’re saying. It’s kinda cool, but a hybrid model would probably be pretty cool too. I think a full office model would suck tho
My team works twice a week in the office, and it's really great. We do push for more stuff f2f on those days (1/1s, weekly, talks about major features that were implemented), but it really helps the team building. As it's only twice a week, it really feels like a long time and fresh since I've been to the office every week.

And I've done fully remote in an office-driven field, and I love it. No commute, I get to hang out with my dog who has major separation anxiety, and connectivity tools are good.
Our office is dog-friendly, and I believe that we have a few dozen dogs (I think somewhere between 30 and 50) on campus. These issues can be solved.

My team is spread across several states, and we have clients in the EU, Israel, and all over the US. So for us, it's not a big deal to be remote.

As an aside, I don't get the hate that so many SWEs have for even hybrid office/home schedules.
I've worked full remote, office and so-called "hybrid", and full remote is just a terrible experience IMO.
I really love the office, I enjoy the people, I enjoy seeing my team members etc. I get that sometimes commute is hard, but even a day or two in the office makes a big difference for me.
YMMV, I've been fully remote for years and it's been utterly fantastic.
I DON'T love the office, I DON'T enjoy most of the people, I DON'T want to see team members (I can do that well enough on a webcam anyway).
It's almost like we're totally different people!

Same here. Full remote for almost 3 years now. Company is almost entirely full time remote except where customers require on site. No commute, collaboration tools are great, productivity is up. Only downside is that you're kind of always "in the office".

What a narcissistic douchebag. It's going to be enjoyable to see his money go up in flames. To bad about the employees though, hope they can transition well into other jobs.

And, in 2 weeks, roughly a 40% write-down on the value of bank loans provided to purchase Twitter... which of course implicitly values the equity that Musk (and the Saudis!) injected at $0.

Down from $44 billion purchase, to the current market valuation implied at approximately negative $5 billion based on amount debt is underwater (or ~$8 billion value before debt, less $13 billion bank debt)

Bloomberg Story from this afternoon, highlighted three strong leads that are emerging to help Musk get things under control, but wait for it...

Since then reports are that those key three are already reduced to one:
[Update: Tech reporter Zoe Schiffer tweeted that multiple sources have said Roth is leaving Twitter. Soon after, Bloomberg reporter Kurt Wagner tweeted that Wheeler also resigned.]

It's like watching a house of cards collapsing. :D

To learn a lesson, he would have to accept responsibility for this mess he created. The Trumps and Musks of the world always blame other people for their messes.
I fully expect him going on Rogan explaining how this is not his fault. Wait he hasnt already been on has he? Expect he is too busy right now … plus.. Rogan maybe dont want him?

Good for you. I love being nearly full time remote. Get so much more of my life, save money, have a much better more comfortable setup. Don't spend a ton of time walking from conference room to conference room just to have half the people on the phone anyways. I do miss BSing with people, but I can do that the couple times a month I go in. Sure if my office was a couple miles down the road and wasn't a bunch of shitty grey cubes, maybe I'd want to go in more, but probably not.

Plus, I'm FAR more productive. Of course, I get that it isn't for everyone, and that is fine, but I shouldn't be forced into the office just because other people enjoy it more.

Also, the hand soap at work gives me terrible headaches, but don't really want to carry around my own hand soap.

Must resist registering and verifying account “Avengers” or “Justice League”, post a picture of that fireball meteor over Russia a few years ago and call it

“Tony Stark installs software update mid flight”

“We urge Tony to reboot immediately.”

(A screenshot - don't particularly want to link to Twitter, plus it doesn't let me browse much anyway before giving the stupid 'log in/sign up' pop up)

Frankly, I hope Twitter just dies off. Probably it won't though, until or unless there's some other site the big celeb twitterers feel like migrating to. Musk seems to be doing a grand job of destroying it, though. For all his complaints about 'activists' he doesn't seem to realise his biggest enemy, his nemisis even, is Elon Musk.

This is how I've set up my team. We've been doing this for two years and it works well. For context, I work on a large campus and we are a service oriented team, with lots of indirect management responsibilities.

I like the office, but not everyday. I like being able to connect with people you don't otherwise see remotely. Those organic hallway interactions are great for networking, getting scoops, informal feedback and quick problem solving.

WFH is good for those days where there are lots of meetings, or for focus time to grind something out, or even work life balance. Times I've been stuck at home for more than two weeks gets me bouncing off the walls and feeling disconnected.

Most meetings end up being virtual anyway as half are WFH or with global team members.

It won't matter who is on it if it can't pay it's bills. If they can't service the debt, they'll be forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy where Elon would lose his entire equity stack and the debt holders would own the company.

The other very real likely outcome right now is the site crashing because they've fired everyone and taking so long to restore that they kill off what's left of their revenue stream.
