it's a cash grab, because 1TB of data over 1 month is a measley 386kB/s continuously but 1TB/s is absolutely crazy.

so the infrastructure isn't limited by the *amount* of data, it's limited by the *rate*. starlink is doing exactly what every other major ISP does - rent-seek through artificial and arbitrary bandwidth caps.
Your talking to an IP architect with 20 years exp who currently uses Starlink today.

Amount of data and rate are the same thing over time (a month) in a time sliced, high endpoint count, access side limited environment.

This is also shown by the fact that after you exceed the cap you dont get rate limited , but a lower QoS / lower transmit time guarantee.

Area "free speech absolutist" gradually discovering his love of content moderation.

That’s odd, I swear he said the only speech that would be moderated was that which was illegal.

I also thought he was against the concept of permanent suspensions.

It is very, very funny to watch this clown slowly learn exactly the lessons everyone told him he would learn.

Hard to believe my impression of him as an incredibly thin skinned narcissistic liar is pretty much holding up.

If only Elon had not fired the programmers that could have written code to prevent anyone else from calling themselves Elon. :)

Kathy Griffin gets permanently suspended for a parody Elon Musk with her account.

No warnings now, this is 'an understood effect of Twitter Blue'

That fucking guy is such a scumbag and easy to see through. I wonder how his cultists are doing like Ponyo and the like. Probably all still up his ass is my prediction.

His poor ego. The amount of Elon satirical accounts blew up and the fragile narcissistic ego of his could not handle it. He is turning more like Trump every day. Narcissists gonna narcissist.
At some point it may sink in that buying Twitter was a blunder. I can't think he's happy with what's going on. Tesla and SpaceX must seem like heaven in comparison.

On Sunday, Elon Musk unveiled a new policy that will ban accounts for the kind of “impersonation” that comedians and others have been employing to mockingly protest his recent takeover of the social network. Musk, who has previously stated he opposes permanent bans, notably the one placed on Donald Trump following the Jan. 6 uprising, tweeted on Sunday night: “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaged in impersonation without clearly declaring ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.” Users used to receive a warning before suspension, but going forward, “there will be no warning,” he continued.

Uh huh.

Rich Sommer of Mad Men and actress Kathy Griffin have previously had their accounts deleted for changing their IDs and pictures to match Musk’s.

More to follow….

A lot of you sound like just a bunch of old farts who think all that Twitter is only for is political discussions.

There is so much breaking sports news on Twitter now a days that it's where most news breaks. It's also huge for video game companies to show off their latest projects, discuss projects, and engage with the user base.

Those are the 2 areas I mainly use it for and it's fantastic for that. My feed hasn't really changed at all.

People who think it's just "short term engagement" are just showing how little they know about it and social media in general.

Valid Point. I understand what you're saying and agree with what you're saying.

The problem is, no one is going to do much more than laugh at the Commies and how craptastic FedEx Field is. And even for franchises with better reputations like the Vikings, what's the worst that happens? Someone badmouths them. I love sports, but it's a make belief world and the damage is very limited with any false news. At worst, any fake news only impacts a handful of people.

With political discourse, false news is devastating and can change the course of people's lives. This is not make belief. This is real. The consequences are very real. The impact is on an entire nation, and for a nation as powerful as the United States, it has the potential to impact the world.

Twitter has the potential to be a force for positive, but like all mediums of expression, there needs to be rules and guidelines. In public, if you walk up to an area with a person of African descent and call him the N-word, you're going to get a whoopin. Do that in an online medium with no moderation, and that message just sits there. If anything, it'll attract even more similar vulgar statements.

Elon Musk has been vocal about protecting free speech, but look at some of the prominent persons who have been banned. These people on this list DESERVES to be permabanned.

Former president Donald Trump. Constantly posts lies. Constantly labels facts as "fake news". My Pillow guy, Mike Lindell. Constantly posts lies. Former Trump lawyer, Sydney Powell. Constantly post lies. Michael Flynn. Constantly posts lies and QAnon quack conspiracy theories. Roger Stone. Constantly post lies. Steve Bannon. Constantly post lies and incites violence. Gavin McInnes. Proud Boys member who post lies and conspiracy theories. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Constantly post lies and all around nonsense. Alex Jones. Constantly post lies and conspiracy theories. This jackass deserves a beating every damn morning of every damn day. Tila Tequila. Posting Nazi propaganda. David Duke. Former KKK leader. Spews hate messages. Aubrey Huff. Posted false Covid-19 info. Stuff like this kills gullible innocent people. Azaelia Banks. Posted homophobic and racist crap. Laura Loomer. Posts racist crap.

This is not the complete list, but the more prominent ones, with reasons on why they were banned. None deserve to be back on Twitter. And if they post the same crap on other social media networks, they deserve to be permanently banned on those networks too.

This is quite the "read" right now on the difficulty Musk finds himself in, having blundered astronomically in two ways:

1. Buying Twitter, when he couldn't afford it

2. Firing 1/2 his workforce including critical infrastructure 4 days before the midterms

What a s-show.
I'm resolved to never buy a Tesla or anything else that hands this petty twat even $1.

Fwiw, you can get past the log in pop up on mobile if you reload and quickly scroll down 5 posts or so.

Annoying as hell, but I'll do it for a couple of posters.

Hm. What can we learn from this? Elon Musk wants absolute free speech on Twitter unless it affects him.

Therefore, everyone on Twitter, when they see offensive speech someplace, should make a tweet applying it to Elon Musk. (Possibly with a "parody" label if you want a chance of not getting banned.)

Bonus points if it's a parody of something Elon himself said.

Edit: I'm not on Twitter so this doesn't apply to me. :innocent:
