It's 20% of his networth. Not exactly pocket change. And I don't see how he can recoup that.
It's an absurd amount of money, but loosing every penny of it will have zero affect on Musk's life. Even if costs him two billion a year to maintain twitter he'll be dead long before he runs out of money. The real risk to Musk is Tesla stock crashing. That would do him in overnight.

i believe a class action lawsuit is about to drop as you cannot mass layoff without a 60 day notice?

This is why capitalist hero's AKA "Job Creators" need to keep all their wealth. Oh, wait...

Lovely business model: Buy company, Fire most people, overwork the remainder, charge more for worse service, from understaffed, overworked people.

Salt in the wounds, attempt to ignore and undermine the few legal protections workers have.

Everyone should vote with their feet on this. Advertiser and users should flee, any remaining staff should be looking for work from an actual human, not a robotic psycopath.

As expected as revenue has plunged and Elon is posting to blame “activists” instead of his own erratic choices.

Yeah, I only saw someone post an image of that, because I refuse to visit Twitter. Here is that image of the tweet:

Says the "victim" that just fired half the people at a company because he's a greedy petulant child (and more Trump like everyday).

Twitter is a cesspool anyways. I hope Twitter becomes the next Truth social network. A big circle-jerk of freedumb loving anti-vaxxer shitheads. I hope advertisers leave in droves. Twitter, and Facebook, have been devastating for progress of the human race in general. Both can die in a damn fire.

Let's also not let the previous shithead, Jack Dorsey, off the hook either. He's a huge part of Twitter being the cesspool it is today. And he's back with a new social network platform, Bluesky.

So the "free speech absolutist" is suddenly against the activists who are rightfully exercising their free speech?

Elon "It's everyone's fault but mine" Musk

I dunno maybe don't act like a nut who might like post a Biden hitler meme or something for the lolz that could end up next to basically any paid advertising on the platform while ad spends across the economy is being cut by corps wary of macro outlooks.

Free speech is that more people should give him money to bail him out of a bad decision or else those people are biased and should be attacked. That the deeper shit he gets into the more Trump like he appears is probably the least surprising outcome here.

Next step in "Making Twitter Great Again" is apparently gutting the infrastructure, since nothing says advertise with us, like a 404 page:

My favorite line:
I have never talked to people more excited to get laid off in my entire life.”

It doesn’t seem to matter to Musk much if the platform becomes unstable. According to Twitter staff sources and a Slack message reviewed by Reuters, Musk’s priority is apparently slashing costs as quickly as possible, setting a November 7 deadline for employees to identify cost-saving infrastructure cuts.

While Twitter staff layoffs have begun as another cost-saving measure, employees who are left to continue working with Musk are expected to be in the office every day for long hours until the Deep Cuts Plan’s goals are achieved.

Meanwhile, NBC News reporter Ben Collins has tweeted that those spared this fate through Musk’s sudden layoffs seem to be happier about the position they’re in.

“Talking to a couple of Twitter employees just now who learned they don't work there anymore when their email stopped working,” Collins tweeted. “I have never talked to people more excited to get laid off in my entire life.”

So. Elon is still not a phd in social sciences? Who could possibly have predicted the Asperger would have trouble extrapolating humanoid behavioral patterns. Its like he expected to roll into Kiev and be greeted with flowers and free pussy.

AOC's twitter was messed with as well...

Twitter is hemorrhaging money and using everything it has to service it's debt.
~ based on their financial's, twitter is going from 7% of its revenue servicing debt to over 100%

if twitter dies so does so many of these grifters revenue streams. Support from patreon, blogs, etc. will dry up if they aren't constantly spewing shit on twitter

I don’t know what the impact will be but it’s important to keep in mind that Twitter is a tool used by people in authoritarian countries to get out information or counter misinformation. While Americans will most likely not even be impacted, I do worry about those who don’t enjoy our freedoms.

Musk's vision of "free speech" only means a specific variety of "free speech"? *wink wink nudge how-bout-those-[slur]*
I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Maybe all the former employees can band together with MacKenzie Scott and she can fund a replacement.

A lot of people get real news from tweets, and IIRC a lot of useful information about Russia's invasion of Ukraine was broadcast via Twitter. Although we all like to joke that it's a big cesspool, there are useful parts of it for many people. I don't use Twitter much myself, but I don't begrudge those who find real value in the service itself. Personally I don't give a flying fuck about social media influencers or celebs.
