No retraction, no apology, no correction ~ just quietly deleted after brainwashing 110 million followers into believing further Republican conspiracy lies (and giving millions of hits to a completely whacked Republican conspiracy site)
Yea either he is stupid-stupid or there is malicious intent. A clear pattern of the latter is emerging.

Musk is obviously not getting the respect he feels he deserves from the masses, so it looks like he's going to fuck around with the easiest gullibles he can find: Trump's conservatively dumbed down minions. It seems to me he's going to rile them up and have millions of them addicted to his very own personal social media platform where he can form them up as a bludgeon from which to leverage his influence over the nation.

A long shot WAG of mine, although plausible enough given the megalomania he seems to be suffering from.

IMO, another spite move by Musk. Probably knows he really doesn't have grounds to deny severance, but he can tie them up in court and the keep their money from them for a while, just because he's an asshat.
Yep.. and when all said and done, he will end up paying them more.

Thing is he's paid to do that by the platform he does it on, it's the numties that do it on other peoples platforms then get all outraged when then find out that that platform might not want disengenuous shitheads that surprise me!

Well, now it is Elon's platform. :D

The border situation DOES affect SD, just like it affects most states. The influx of often-unskilled labor, driving down wages, and also finding ways to collect on welfare-type programs.

As a country we should address that problem in the most efficient manner. You know what is probably the single most effect street crime fighting statute/ It's not more severe penalties, no bail rules or anything like that-it's laws that make possession of stolen property a crime. Take away (or more realistically, limit) the market makes property crime less lucrative.

A very simple and effective solution would be making hiring undocumented aliens a crime-a status crime where knowledge of their status is irrelevant (effectively putting the burden of determining legal status on the employer). Wages would substantially rise (admittedly prices would too, but GOP voters pretend there are no effects from excluding aliens from the labor market).

Good luck persuading so-called small government capitalists from actually solving the "problem" though-as they are a major beneficiary from the current exploitative system.

No it doesn't. Not in any meaningful way at least. The tiny % that do end up there aren't taking jobs from citizens (at least not jobs they're willing to work), and they end up contributing far more in terms of net tax $$$ than they take out. It's a fucking myth that they're in any way a "drain" on the system.

And, for that to be the main (or even in the top 10) issue for many is even more of a fucking joke.

The really funny thing is that no matter how much Elon courts the right....none of them are buying Teslas or giving a fuck about SpaceX (LOL science).

And I think deep down, that bothers him.

SSI verification is already in place. A couple years back I was notified that one of my employees had an invalid SSN. Had I retained him I would have been subject to substantial fines.
The other issue is that many illegal's are working for cash. No reporting, no withholding, no workmen's comp, no overtime.

I admit that law exists, but it has tons of loopholes for defenses and enforcement is minimal. A good first step would be to permit private civil actions based on the law and/or generous whistleblower rewards. That is, if people are serious about barring aliens from working here instead of just giving the "issue" lip service.

Elon's conspiracy theory post had over 24,000 retweets and 86,000 likes before he deleted it. Ugh. Any chance his bodyguards quit for the very acceptable "Why should I put my life on the line for this P.O.S." reason? I think not, but that would probably get Elon to reconsider his ways, especially if employees at Twitter and Tesla just happened to be given free hammers.

It's all lip service. They want the cheaper products and services that illegals help provide and do so willingnly, but they love to hate them because they are racist bigots. If the illegals looked like Scandinavians, they would not give a shit.

My proposal is to apply Superfund-style strict, joint, and several liability to the socialized costs of hiring undocumented workers. You hired an undocumented worker and your county had X dollars in emergency room costs for undocumented workers? Here's the bill, the entire bill. You hired one worker and there were ten patients? Don't care, eat the bill. Want to spread the love? Rat out other employers. Putting the costs of illegal hiring practices on the employers will get results.

That sounds super unconstitutional and like a terrible idea even if it weren’t.

Right wingers: "The illegals are flooding the streets with unskilled workers we don't need."

Also right wingers: "The service at this restaurant sucks nowadays, why can't they hire more people? Must be because the economy sucks."

Right wingers: "inflation is too high, there's a shortage of workers, and too many people are crossing the border illegally. We must fix this!"

Democrats: "making it easier to immigrate to America would help solve all of these problems. Can we do that?"

Right wingers: "no"

There is a tiny possibility that Elon Musk is an alien from another planet.

There, I said it. It's out now. And I'm not going to delete this. Feel free to forward.

and the same right wingers have never supported putting business owners in jail for hiring the undocumented

Do they really care about the border enough to remove the incentive for crossing?
