Elon: the bird be free...

*glances nervously at bankers*

Elon: ...after a blue ribbon committee of experts determines what "freedom" constitutes in terms of potentially forgone revenue

View attachment 70008

If it's truly a diverse committee that sounds like a recipe for making no decisions on anything. OTOH if it's a bunch of diverse opinions aligned with Musks...

Upvote for using an image, instead of Twit link. :D

I guess the plan is probably to pump enough bullshit and vapor into the company through his patented methods and take it public again in a year or two. Seems like the only way to just lose a lot of money instead of an absolute fuckton of money. Step 1 is of course not tanking the place in the interim.

I think just changing the shingle over the door would leave him at the former. He has to actually make a profit in order to change that. Anything else and it slides toward the latter. He overpaid by about double by all accounts, already in a deep hole, and I don't foresee any gov subsidies propping up this venture either.

The moderation council seems like Musk's way of straddling the difference between his earlier promises and the practical reality (that Twitter needs moderation to be a successful business).

It's far from a utopian solution, but I'll admit that I'm looking forward to some schadenfreude if and when that council maintains Trump's ban or otherwise preserves policies that disproportionately affect conservatives. "Wah, Musk told us we could post as much hate speech and misinformation as we like! Fire him!"

It's a cop out. Either way it turns out he can point and say "Hey, it wasn't me that did it. It was those guys."

Also he massively over-leveraged the company. Barring a miracle, or another $ billion or two of personal cash injection from Musk, lenders will own what remains of Twitters corpse within 24 months & Musk will be long gone. No way Twitter can generate the $1 billion/yr free cash flow needed to keep paying off the new debt.

Wtf happened to you dude? How did you go off the deep end?

I remember back in the day you were just a regular Joe like most people here.

If I recall you are a single male that doesn't even have kids. As a parent of 2, please enlighten me how "they" (whoever the hell that even is) is pushing "this stuff" on my kids.

He's on my blocklist, but from what you guys are saying it doesn't sound much different from the feed of that nut that attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer:

It's basically just the typical ranting about all the same stuff, all the right wing nutters rant about. It's almost like it's a club that they all get their info from:

David Depape left behind a trail of writings in which he railed about Jews and censorship. He also had posts on “climate hysteria,” “COVID,” aliens, pedophilia, Communism and more. He also posted election and COVID conspiracy theories online.
... He called transgender people “freaks” on his website

I think it would be a hard sell for investors to successfully sue Facebook for giving too much money back to them.
If the intent is to artificially float the stock price for the benefit of executives exercising stock options, I think the argument could be made that the executives are looting the company.

That's be hard to prove IMO and with FB's equity structure anybody who owns stock should have known what they're getting into.

Respect is addressing people as they wish to be addressed . . . Mary.
That should be "Your Majesty".
Unless they wear a sandwich sign how would I know how they want to be addressed? If I see a fellow walking down the street and he drops his wallet how do I gain his attention? Refer to him as person? Perhaps undefined human would work? Bipedal mammal?
Why does this have to be complicated? Sir or mam are perfectly respectful forms of address. they've worked for century's.

Oh, certainly. I just like the thought of Ted Cruz or Ron DeSantis fuming because Musk wouldn't give them their conservative troll paradise.

I mean it's barely more complicated than gross profit versus net profit right? I think you should be addressed as king of the morons

I’m confused - is your idea that if a transgender person drops their wallet and you misgender them while returning it this will be a problem?

I don’t know what to say to that. I have several transgender friends and I think they would laugh at that idea. It’s just not an issue.

The two terms were interchangeable until recently. The only reason it's been redefined is so that people can advertise their sexual proclivities. It's almost become a badge of honor to advertise one's sexual preferences and force others to acknowledge them by demanding the use of made up pronouns. Those same pronouns are also a method of asserting dominance in a first meeting situation by "correcting" the other person even though you've been greeted respectfully.

Let the flames begin!
Why doe's this sexuality stuff bothers you?
Evolve and accept new ideas. You will feel much better.
Have you heard about the performance of the ultra masculine no gay russian army in combat? Rather patetic if you ask me. Proud our woke canadian army helped trained the Ukrainians on how to kill them.
Just saying.

Yea Beau had a piece on it not long ago, how inter communication friction in the Russian army is *also* fucking things up and why that sort of thing is not a problem in the US army: Mandatory sensitivity training.

Just scream "MONEY." This isn't as hard as you think.

Why does this have to be complicated? Sir or mam are perfectly respectful forms of address. they've worked for century's.
So did slavery, women not being able to vote and physical and emotional abuse unto incest being all but unaddressed. Respectful inclusion of everyone can seem like a burden to those nostalgic for simpler times when black folk cowered, women suffered abuse in silence, and bullies ruled the schoolyard.

Please join the rest of us in this still somewhat new century of inclusion. It's not radical, it's necessary. God loves us all, no exceptions.

Remember Mar . . . err Your Majesty, to the privileged equality feels like oppression.

Here let me help you out:

You say, “Hey Mr. you dropped your wallet.”
Her, “Thanks! Oh and I go by Ms.”

Then you have a choice:

You can say, “Oh, no problem Ms. “

Or you can say, “Don’t push your radical leftist lgbtq ungodly agenda on me Mr! I won’t be your victim!”

Hope this clears it up.

What could be more equal than giving every single person you interact with the same respect? Everyone gets it, homeless guy on the street or the woman who's about to write me a huge check. My doctor and my trash collector (notice I didn't say garbage man, I'm progressive like that) both get the same treatment. Simple respect, simple words, everyone knows and understands them. I'm even pleasantly respectful to the Q crowd when I'm arguing against the insanity they believe in (though that appears to make them even angrier).

Some things don't need to be redefined, they don't need to be made even a tiny bit more complex. If someone thinks they're special and require a different greeting than the rest of the nation, they need to find a way of making themselves readily identifiable so I'll know what to say. I'll also point out that if anyone forgets or chooses not call me "Your Majesty", I won't be at all offended.
